Just today I've heard several people talking about how they have had to change their eating habits after having their gallbladders removed.

I had to have my gallbladder removed 16 years ago. I eat anything I want with no restrictions and have never experienced any trouble. Not only that, I don't ever recall the doctor telling me to change my food consumption.

What am I missing?

Whatever you're missing, I'm missing it too (including the gall bladder).

Good to hear! Of course, not about the gallbladder part...only about being able to eat! :-)

VERY TMI

You're missing nothing! My doctor told me that there wouldn't be anything that I couldn't eat. He said that in all his gb removals he has had only one person complain of diahreah (I can't spell that word) after having it done, and he has seen very few if any cases of people who continue to get the stones even though their gbs are removed.

I'm "lucky" to be the second patient that suffers from bathroom troubles (I guess I should call and let them know, huh?). However, I can control that by what I eat. I can't do fried foods when we're out and about unless it's the last thing we're doing before heading home. If I have fries or breaded chicken or something at home, I can guarantee that I'm running to the bathroom within 2 hours, and I try to be home around 1:30-2 pm every day when I have my daily run (no pun intended).

It sounds awful, but really I don't mind it. As I've become more removed from the surgery it doesn't happen daily (maybe 5 times a week) and I can eliminate it by watching what veggies I eat the day before. The only really troublesome veggie is broccoli (which SUCKS because it was my favorite) - it has to be cooked to where I can "chew" it with just my tongue or I end up with the same old pains as before. But, I'd rather give up broccoli and have the occasional bout of diahreah than deal with the crippling pains of the gb attacks I had every few days before having it removed.

Wow! I guess I'm glad that I don't have any side effects...and...I'm sorry that you do!! The person that was talking about it today mentioned that broccoli was their trigger food...I had never really even thought about it. I am so very thankful though, since I LOVE spicy foods!!
